Local SEO Case Study: $2M in 16 Months

This is a simple and clear case study on how Local SEO helped a high-ticket service business earn over $2 million in just 16 months. You will learn how keyword research, on-page SEO, local pages, and off-page signals worked together to create strong results.

1. Starting With a Fresh Website

The client had an old domain with some authority, but they wanted a completely new website with a new design. After the new website was ready, the old domain was redirected to the new one. The development process took longer because the client wanted many changes, but once everything was approved, we moved forward.

2. Keyword Research With Low Search Volume Terms

After the website was complete, I started keyword research from scratch. The problem: keyword tools were showing very low or zero search volume for many local keywords.

To solve this, I combined two types of keywords:

  • Zero-volume keywords → (service + location)
  • General service keywords with search volume but no location

This helped us build a strong list of local keywords that Google could easily understand.

The final keyword sheet was used to create all service pages with the correct intent and structure.

3. On-Page and On-Site SEO Setup

Once the content was ready, I optimized:

  • Homepage
  • Service pages
  • Meta titles
  • Meta descriptions
  • Header structure
  • Internal linking
  • Local keywords
  • Image optimization

The homepage focused on brand keywords, while each service page targeted a specific service + location combination. At first, we optimized for one main location.

4. Building Location Pages for More Cities

The client later shared a list of cities and counties they wanted to target. To scale faster, I created location pages by duplicating a service template and replacing the location name.
This helped us expand quickly to 7–9 locations in the US. All pages were indexed through Google Search Console and clean internal linking helped Google crawl everything fast.

5. Social Media Signals and Off-Page SEO Without Guest Posts

Before building backlinks, I created a simple plan for social media marketing.

We posted manually on:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Pinterest

Each location page was promoted with different keywords to support local relevance.

Off-Page SEO Included:

  • Profile links
  • Citations
  • Image, video, and audio links
  • Web 2.0s
  • Niche-relevant forums
  • Brand signals
  • No guest posts at all

Yes, this campaign did not use any guest posts, and still ranked very well. This shows that you can rank local websites with local relevance + clean backlinks + strong on-page SEO.

6. Zero Informational Content (Yes, It Still Worked!)

Most SEO campaigns need blogs and topical authority. But this project was different. There was no informational content on the website.

The entire ranking success came from:

  • Service pages
  • Location pages
  • Local signals
  • Social engagement
  • Clean off-page strategy

This proves that service-based businesses can rank without blogs if their local SEO is strong.

7. Ranking in Multiple Countries

The website did not only rank in the US. By creating more location pages and applying the same Local SEO method, the site also ranked in multiple cities across different countries. This helped the brand reach more customers and scale revenue faster.
